PRUNING ME
The Scroll
07/23/2012 12:02
We are told about a scroll- that has writing in and on the back of it that is sealed with seven seals. The question that a strong angel with a loud voice asked was this: "Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?" This text doesn't elaborate on the scroll- what it is, what's written in it, or what it's for. But we do know one thing. Nobody mentioned so far- not the elders, or four creatures with six wings and eyes all over the place, not even the One who sits on the throne- can break the seals on this scroll. But then we are told of the "Lion of the tribe of Judah", the "Root of David" has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals. Then we are introduced to the "Lamb" that had been slain, now standing. This Lamb- Jesus- took the scroll from God who was seated on the throne. HE is the one who can open the scroll and break its seals. I love that this text also mentions that the elders sang "a new song". Why do you suppose it was a new one? Because prior to Jesus dying on the cross and resurrecting into heaven- before He sat at the right hand of the Father with the authority and power over all things- the elders and all heavenly things worshipped God. But now that Jesus had been given all authority from God the Father, they give honor and praise to Jesus. As of right now, we don't know what's written on that scroll. However, if Jesus has that much authority and power that only _He _can open it? I want to make sure I am on His good side! I have such a vivid picture in my mind, including all the eyes and wings and harps and crowns- and it is beautiful. Jesus stood as a Lamb who was slain and all the heavenlies worshipped Him. If all in heaven worship Him, don't you think it would be a good idea to follow in their example?
"Worthy are you to take the scroll
and to open its seals,
for you were slain, and by your blood you
ransomed people for God
from every tribe and language and
people and nation,
and you have made thema kingdom and
priests to our God,
and they shall reign on the earth."
"Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom
and might and honor and glory and blessing!"
